A Continental carved ivory figure 19th century, portraying the medieval tale of St George slaying the dragon, the male figure dressed in a helmet, tunic and cloak seated astride a rearing horse, his right arm holding aloft a sword, a shield carved with an heraldic crest in his left hand, the dragon with a spear through its neck lying prone beneath the horse, raised on an ebonised base, 16.5 cm high.
