George Rathbone oil on board titled 'Clearing Mallee Scrub' oil on board, 100 x 50 cm, beautifully framed, 'Old House and Pioneer Artefacts near Daylesford Victoria', 60 x 32 cm framed, 'River Steamer carrying wool to Echuca', 57 x 55 cm framed. The paintings of George Rathbone, a descendent of a well known Kyabram pioneering family, have been exhibited in all parts of Australia. A Native of Echuca, his paintings depict that area from its earliest settlements. His works have been featured as covers of magazines, and exhibited works of art in dozens of galleries and libraries. His paintings have been the subject of many articles, and as the school of Naive painting grows in popularity becomes a marvellous record of the times. Included with the paintings is a photographic scrapbook consisting of many of his works. (4 items)
