Description:
A fine German Exhibition walnut and mixed timber wardrobe, circa 1880, with maker's mark of C. Prachtel, Berlin, Purveyor to the Empress, of breakfront form with an extended cornice, panelled frieze, a central mirror and two panelled cupboards embellished with burr timbers, cross and feather banding, two lower drawers and bracket feet. Provenance: Part of the German entry, Melbourne international Exhibition 1880, purchased by the Mayor of Melbourne, thence by descent. Height 220 cm. Width 173 cm. Depth 58 cm
