A good Carlton Ware vase, circa 1936-1941. Designed 1936, pattern 4018, attributed to violet Ulmer, shape 467. 'Secretary bird', a Chinoiserie pattern in delicate and vibrant enamels and gilt depicting a fantastic bird and stylised flora with pendant motifs on a rich ruby lustre ground with a teal rim, glazed apple green to the interior; backstamps underside and also partial paper label to rim. Height 15 cm
