Royal Australian Navy officer's epaulettes with their original metal storage case, made by Gieve, Matthews & Seagrove Ltd. This set was made for Engineer Captain Arthur Mears of the Royal Australian Navy. Arthur Cyril Weeks Mears, born 7/6/1890, enlisted in April 1913 as an engineer, served aboard such ships as the Cerberus, Encounter, Australia, Penguin and Canberra during and between the World Wars, promoted to Engineer Captain in July, 1938, awarded CBE in June, 1942 and was transferred to the Retired List in 1950
