A Japanese Sumida vase, mark of Inoue Ryosai, late Meiji/Taisho period (early 20th century), the everted rim and short waisted neck above a slightly-waisted body swollen towards the base, with a dark and coloured glaze falling from the rim over a red ground, one side applied with the figures of four boys playing.
