Commando History: Important archive of Lieut. Kenneth Charles Piesse 2/4th Australian Commando Squadron documenting Australian Commando activities on the island of Timor during World War II. Piesse was part of a 250 man operation in Timor (1942) conducting hit and run attacks on the Japanese who were convinced that the Australians numbered 2000 or more due to their success. Includes detailed confidential documents 'Allied Geographical Section Southwest Pacific Area Terrain Study No.70 Dutch Timor, Netherlands East Indies 30th August, 1943', showing many detailed maps and photographs; 'Terrain Study No.50...Portuguese Timor'; scrap album of news clippings, 'Terrain Handbook 61 Tarakan'; typed manuscript first hand account of actions in Timor; broadside folio of (11) detailed maps of Timor; a large quantity of photo negatives and photographs (mostly reprints); tunics (2), and related material.
