Model Ship - the Nippon Maru (Japan 1930): a highly detailed model of the the Nippon Maru featuring detailed deck with handmade fittings, handpainted hull and intricate riggings. Also appears to have been wired for lighting with an electrical lead present (untested). This large ship measures 1.6m x 1.36m (including stand). The age of the model is unknown however has been one of the centrepieces of the Kryal Castle ship collection for at least 30 years. The Nippon Maru was a Japanese training tall ship. She was launched on February 14, 1930. Adapted to an engine driven ship during World War II then redesignated back to sails, serving for over 50 years as an officer trainer
