Description:
1924 Reg Latta’s 1924 Blues jersey. In 1924 the premiership winning Balmain forward Reg ‘Whip’ Latta was NSW captain and played in all three Tests against England and earned the award “Champion Australian Player” of the series. His sky blue jersey made by J. Pearson Sydney bears a woollen Kangaroo embroidered on the right breast, with “NSW”& “1924” below. The name R. Latta has been written on the collar in pen. Reg “Whip” Latta played 161 first grade matches for Balmain 1916-17, 1919-26 & 1928-30. He played 6 matches for NSW 1921 & 1923-24 as well as 4 Tests for Australia 1919, 1921-22 & 1924. After playing in Wagga in 1927 he returned to the club and when he retired in 1930 he was the first clubman to surpass 200 (208) grade games. Assessment: The jersey is in excellent condition.
