Highly important Australian silver claret jug by Fischer, of baluster form with scroll handle, elaborately engraved with foliage and Greek key bands, inscribed: 'Presented/ to/ Dr Dwb Wilkie/ By the Members of/ court Waradgery Aof/ in Appreciation of/ Services Rendered As/ court Surgeon/ and as a / Mark of Esteem/ FEBy 28th 1882'. Marks: Sterling/ Silver, struck twice, engraved: G.Fischer./ Geelong on spout. Height 34 cm; weight: 665grams. Provenance: 1973 Melbourne private collection. 1988 Kozminsky exhibition catalogue.
