No back mark. Full standing with legs crossed studio view of an army musican.He wears a single breasted frock coat with three rows of buttons, shako with feather plume. his left hand holding a small book, rests on his upturned tenor horn, no back mark. Envelope addresses to Brinton T Gruell, 36 th Lowa Volunteer infantry. Gruell was a fifer with Company G of his regiment, cover has been cancelled 3 cent stamp.
