A pair of small cloisonne vases, Meiji period circa 1895 unsigned finely worked with a design of hanging wisteria in silver wire on a blue/black ground, 12 cm high. Hanging wisteria in Japanese Art often recalls chapter 33 Fuji no Uraba (underleaves of wisteria) from Japan's first novel, 'The Tale of Genji' where a banquet scene under the wisteria plays out
