Beautiful Chatham Islands Matau, wooden fish hook, used to harvest deep sea fish such as Hapuka, Bass and Bluenose, these large form hooks were made from strongly knotted woods. Neck shows sign of worked lashing holds. Overall patina of very weathered. Early form, length 16.4 cm width 10.5 cm.
