Description:
A superb Ramu river shield, a stone carved, of flat oval form, and pierced on either side, the front decorated with an abstract motif classic triangular-shaped face at the top between sets of stylised eye motifs. It is rare to find one with some traditional pigments and split cane attached and still intact. Fine and varied encrusted patina overlaid by coloured pigments. Length 115 cm. Width 53 cm.
