Description:
1977 Maserati Bora 4900 Chassis no. AM11749YS850Engine No. Tba The Maserati Bora is an important car in the long and distinguished history of Maserati in that it was the company's first production model to adopt a centrally located engine and transmission assembly behind the cabin. Despite the difficulties of the fuel crisis of the '70s and the fact that Maserati was now owned by Citroën, the Bora managed to maintain the tradition and heritage of Maserati which was founded in 1926 by the three Maserati brothers. The Bora was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro and a total of only 530 units were built between 1971 and 1978 making this a rare car. The first cars were fitted with an 8 cylinder 4.7 litre engine and soon after a 4.9 litre engine was also available. The Bora, a two door, two seater coupe has rear wheel drive and a five speed Zf transmission and was capable of 280 kilometres per hour. In keeping with the times the interior was refined and spacious, the instrument panel extending to the centre console with the dials angled towards the driver.Maserati Bora, chassis number AM11749YS850 is a beautiful left hand drive example, finished in yellow with a black leather interior. Its 4.9 litre engine was rebuilt in 2001 by Superformance Uk, the same year that the chassis and bodywork were also restored and painted. The 'giallo' paintwork is still in excellent condition and the totally original interior is also in very good condition. We are told that the transmission is excellent and the electrics are in good operating order. This outstanding Bora comes with bills and restoration history and is accompanied by a Maserati Factory Certificate of Origin.
