A fine cinnabar lacquer rectangular tray Ming Dynasty, circa 16th/17th century. 24 x 33.5 cm. Very well carved with a central landscape within an elaborate scrolling border, inscribed in relief characters, the scenery in front is lovely and interesting, from the Xiao Chung yu ji by Ming scholar Chen Jiru (1568-1639), wooden box. Provenance: Ex Japanese collection
