Description:
Impressive and unusually large cream / green Chinese soapstone seal, with darker mottling, the large rectangular seal block surmounted by a shishi lion with her two cubs cavorting on her back and head. Incised border of waves and clouds, each face finely inscribed with Chinese characters, the base with seal form characters with traces of red pigment. 19th century. Condition: attractive wear and patina consistent with age and softness of the soapstone. Height 29 cm
