An antique Louis XVI-style Japonaiserie lacquered side table; Maison de l'Escalier de Cristal (Pannier-Lahoche & Cie), late 19th century. The kidney-shaped top with three quarter pierced brass gallery above a frieze drawer and two open undertiers, on cabriole supports, the top, frieze, and undertiers variously decorated in Japanese manner with vignettes of birds, butterflies, and flowers in raised lacquer and gold and colours on the gold flecked brown lacquer ground, a Maison de l'Escalier de Cristal Pannier-Lahoche & Cie printed paper label to the underside of the lowest tier; 74.5 cm high, 65 cm wide, 42 cm deep. Provenance: believed to have been purchased by the vendor from John D. Dunn Antiques, Melbourne, circa 2008
