A rare antique German 'Cornettino' ground barrel organ; Frati & Co., Berlin, dated 1884. The 90 cm crank-operated wooden barrel movement (later fitted with an electric motor) with fifteen brass cornets and fourteen piccolo flutes in a wooden case mounted on a tricycle platform carriage with a canopy on four posts, the case and canopy with decorative turned and carved details throughout, painted and with incised gilt details including the maker's name and the date 1884, the frieze of the case with four applied repousse brass medallions representing prizes awarded for the organ at 1880s English and European and European exhibitions, accompanied by two additional barrels in pine crates; 208 cm high, 208 cm wide (overall length of the carriage), 151 cm deep (the spare barrel crate each 29 cm high, 124 cm wide, 30 cm deep)
