Description:
An early 18th century ebony veneered striking bracket clock, Joshua Wilson, London, the elaborate handle set on a caddy over a with bold moulding and pierced brass sound frets, glazed side apertures on a plinth base, the later signed rectangular dial with engraved border, silvered chapter ring and matted centre, the twin gut fusee movement with five knopped and finned pillars, verge escapement rack striking on a bell, the back plate with engraved wheat ear border enclosing a pattern of elaborate foliate scrolls centred by a flowing signature. Height 42 cm Note: Joshua Wilson was apprenticed to William Fuller in 1688 and took his own first apprentice in 1698, one Benjamen Rowe (see Loomes)
