Prisoner's gag, consisting of a piece of wood with a hole through it, to be placed in the mouth and a leather strap which buckled behind the neck. This type of gag was used at Berrima Gaol and is described in detail in the book 'In old Australia' by the Rev. Hassall, the Gaol Chaplain for many years in the mid 1800's
