A fabulous pair of 19th century walnut and parcel gilt upholstered chairs, in the George II style after a design by Giles Grendey, the arch overstuffed back above a drop in padded seat, plain frieze raised on lion's paw feet with lion's mask knees with foliate carved ears (2). These chairs are based on the model, attributed to Giles Grendey, from Copped hall, Essex, and illustrated in the 'Dictionary of English furniture', Macquoid and Edwards, plate XVII
