Description:
Henry Kemp of London, fine scarlet lacquered bell top spring table clock, circa 1775. Eight day time and strike fusee movement with original verge escapement and rare original Dutch striking mechanism sounding the succeeding hour on a smaller bell. Break arch dial with silvered strike/silence subsidiary, and Roman numeral engraved chapter ring, recessed engraved maker's boss 'Henry Kemp, London', with fine blued steel hands. Back plate handsomely engraved in the Chinoiserie manner. A very fine example. Kemp was active from 1767-1781. 52 cm high, 27.5 cm wide, 18 cm deep
