Description:
William Ricketts (1898-1993). An important large monumental two piece terracotta clay wall sculpture depicting a large reclining bearded indigenous tribal elder, 8 indigenous children faces and rare full length self portrait of the sculptor William Ricketts. Standing one metre tall and 1.85 metres in width. This along with Lot.15 in this auction, is considered to be one of the largest privately owned works known outside the Artists Sanctuary in the Dandenongs, Victoria. With the Sanctuary currently closed due to storms and damage these two works could possibly be some of the largest and rarest to be held in both private and public hands.
