A pair of Japanese porcelain plaques by Kato Zenji (1848-1918); Meiji period (1868-1912); finely painted in overglaze enamels with a continuous scene running across the two panels of flying and nesting quails within a lakeside landscape with distant mountains to the horizon. Impressed seal for Kato Zenji to the reverse of both, with an iron red kanji inscription. Each approximately 20 cm high, 21.5 cm wide
