A Chinese Guri lacquer document box; Qing Dynasty (1644-1912), circa 17th/18th century; of rectangular form with rounded sides and a foot with foliate apron, constructed with many layers of alternating red and black lacquer over a wooden core, the lacquer carved deeply with guri (sword pommel) design. With lacquer decoration to the interior of landscape scenes in red and gold lacquer. 10.5 cm high, 43 cm wide, 23 cm deep
