An Alofolo club, Malaita, Solomon Islands, late 19th century. Carved from a single piece of wood, this club features a flat rectangular blade enlivened by a raised fin on each side. Delicate incised detailing of geometric patterns at the blade. A long shaft that terminates at the double-flange pommel. Coloured with a black pigment. Length 105 cm, width 8 cm, depth 6 cm.
