Description:
Early shield with fire tool markings, central Desert Region, Northern Territory. Carved beanwood and natural pigments. Shield of softwood, oval in form with rounded ends and a handle carved from solid form level with surface. It has inwardly curving surfaces. There is continuous incised fluting on both surfaces. Approx length 60 x 21 cm. Provenance: Private Collection, New South Wales.
