A Chinese finely carved ivory statue of Gui-Fei Yang standing on lotus base, Qing Dynasty, 19th century. Gui-Fei Yang was the Imperial concubine and consort to emperor Xuan-Zong (Tang Dynasty 713-756 C.E.). Know in Chinese folklore by several name including Yu-Huan Yang or her Daoist nun name Tai-Zhen. She is considered one of the four beauties in Chinese mythology. Signed on the base 'Guang Fang' within a double square cartouche with two character mark. A/F. 21 cm high
