Description:
A Chinese blue and white and copper-red 'Sanduo' vase, Qing Dynasty (1644-1912), 18th century, decorated with three copper red fruit between lappet borders, marked to the shoulder with a six-character Xuande mark. The rim mounted with a bronze collar. The glaze with a fine, slightly stained crackle, 20 cm high, 13 cm diameter. Provenance: Purchased in Thailand, 1949-1952 or 1963-1968, Allan Henry Loomes OBE (1917-1990), and thence by descent. Allan Loomes was Australian Consul-General to Thailand (1949-1952) and Australian Ambassador to Burma (1958-1961), Thailand (1963-1968), south Korea (1968-1971), and Venezuela and Peru (1974-1978).
