A Derby lozenge shaped dessert dish, circa 1780. Provenance: Cynthia Walmsley, Nottingham, purchased 1998 for £400, the scallop edged dish with gilt dentil border, 'Smith's Blue' ground with gilded festoons and decorated with sprigs of polychrome flowers in the manner of Edward Withers, blue crown over D mark underside, see same pattern, John Twitchett, 'Derby porcelain 1748-1848', colour plate 65, height 5 cm, length 27.5 cm, width 21 cm
