Incised parrying shield, New South Wales. Of bi-convex section and elongated triangular profile, solid cut handle, the front decorated with panels of incised chevron motifs, old patina overall. Carved and engraved hardwood. Provenance: Collected in 1898, Mrs Edgell Hunt, Collection number P2720. Inscribed on shield: Said to be from Auckland, New Zealand. But probably Australian.
