A fine Victorian William & Mary style ebonised chiming mantle clock, second half 19th century, by Payne & Co, 163 New Bond Street, London, having an elaborately cast gilt bronze basket top, the square case with pierced decorations and foliate paw feet enclosing a brushed steel chapter ring with Roman numerals, cherub spandrels, striking on a double gong, with presentation plaque dated 1871, maker's mark to dial and mechanism, numbered 2399, in working order and with three keys, height 44 cm, width 33 cm, depth 28 cm
