Description:
Francis Prout Mahony (1862 - 1916), Abercorn, oil on canvas, signed, titled and dated '1894' lower left, 60 x 75 cm. Framed, with descriptive plate below (overall 76 x 91 cm). Abercorn, by Chester-Cinnamon, won the A.J.C. Derby, the Randwick Plate, the V.R.C. Championship Stakes and beat Carbine on three occasions at weight-for-age. Born in 1884, Abercorn was exported to England in 1898 where he died in 1905.
