Description:
The personal seal of Sir Daniel Cooper, lapis lazuli handle with copper claw design base in an intaglio seal in fitted leather box. Other Notes: Sir Daniel Cooper, 1st Baronet G Cma (1 July 1821 - 5 June 1902) was a nineteenth century politician, merchant and philanthropist in New South Wales. He served as speaker of the Legislative assembly of the colony and was a noted philatelist. Cooper was conferred the hereditary title of Cooper Baronet of Woollahra in 1863, appointed knight Commander of the order of St Michael and St George in 1880 and upgraded to a knight grand cross of the order in 1888. He built Woollahra house, Point Piper circa 1856.
