Description:
1938 Australian Tour to the United Kingdom attractively presented display incorporating a fully signed team sheet (with 16 autographs) and the team photo as published by the 'News Chronicle' and 'The Star'. Beautifully hand-annotated in black and gold on green acid-free mountboard providing details of results of the five test match series as well as details of Australia's best performers. Framed and glazed; overall 107 x 59.5 cm. Under the captaincy of Don Bradman, Australia won the 4th Test, lost the 1st Test, 2 matches were drawn and one was washed out. Despite the unsatisfactory outcome of the series there were several outstanding performances: McCabe's 232 and Bradman's 144 not out in the first Test and Brown's 206 not out and Bradman's 102 not out in the second. Bradman also made 103 in the fourth. Australia's bowlers were led by O'Reilly, who took 22 wickets, especially his performance in the fourth Test where he took 5 wickets in each innings. Australia would not revisit England until 1948.
