A cylindrical red lacquer covered box, used for tobacco, betel nut and other herbs, pagan, Burma, circa 1940, the iron red ground finely painted with an unusual detailed and elaborate design and Burmese script, complete with one shallow tray. Condition: Damage to top of lid and cracks to interior lacquer. Provenance: Acquired in Burma, by an expat living in Asia in early 1990s, height 19 cm, diameter 21 cm
