Description:
A George II bracket clock, William Webster, change Alley, London, circa 1755, the mahogany bell top case with gilt brass urn finials, one to centre of bell top, the others to the four corners of the case. Brass trimmed glazed side panels to the case with brass carrying handles above. Brass trimmed front door, moulded base to case standing on brass bracket feet. The brass dial with foliate spandrels to a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, matted centre with square calendar aperture below centre arbour. Blued steel hands. The arch with subsidiary silvered rings for strike/silent and rise and fall and signed W. Webster - change Alley - London on a silvered plaque located in the arch. The backplate engraved with leafy scrolls around the signature and pendulum lock. The twin fusee movement with pivoted verge escapement and pull repeat mechanism on six bell and hour striking on single bell, 50 cm high, 28 cm wide, 20 cm deep
