Photographs. New South Wales. (Paine, John, Bayliss, Charles, et al.), (Sydney, Charles Potter Government Printer, 1889), An album of 120 mounted albumen silver print photographs, full red morocco blind stamped in gilt with the coat of arms of New South Wales and lettering, silk lining papers, all edges gilt. Each image approx 140 x 190 mm, mounted on thick cards with printed blue borders and printed caption labels, additional albumen print of the Railway Institute laid in at front. Despite the fact that the album is dated 1889, it includes an image of the Garden Palace, which was destroyed by fire in 1882, suggesting that the huge array of works in this album ranges in dates from 1879 to 1889. Images include the Botanical Gardens, Sydney Harbour, Watson's Bay, Circular Quay, Oxford St., Iron Cove Bridge, scenes on the Nepean and Hawkesbury Rivers, Blue Mountains, George's River. Lake George, Gosford, Ourimbah, Broken Bay, the shale mine at Koadja Creek, etc.
