(Manuscript) Lochhead, J. McKenzie, Book with an account of the voige from Sydney N.S.W. to London England in Bord of the ship Bruckley Castle. Lochhead's densley written shipboard diary of the voyage aboard the Brucklay Castle,August - November 1868, with an entry for each day. Although poorly spelled, the diary is linguistically significant as the phonetic orthography more or less reflects the semi-literate Lochhead's Scottish accent and the entries are written as Lochhead would have spoken them to an audience. Also includes a short record of his arrival as a pioneer settler in the Kansas Territory in 1869. (A number of verbatim extracts have been transcribed and are available upon request.)
