An extremely important 19th century plum mahogany Architects Bureauplat, signed G. Durand, in the manner of Jean-Henri Riesener (1734-1806), an outstanding example of the neo-classical style, the hinged top with sloping sides, incorporating a finely tooled black leather writing surface and broad border to moulded edge with indented corners, each long frieze of feigned drawers with central long and two flanking short drawers, each, with bead banded panel, the central with foliate mount, the flanking with boss disk mount and wreath ring handle, each side frieze of conforming single drawer with matching escutcheon, the tapered square columnar legs with octagonal sectioned capital and foot., signed 'G Durand', 78 cm high, 137 cm wide, 90 cm deep.
