An Italian marble group carving, attributed to Lorenzo Bartolini (Italian 1777-1850), on plinth with inscription cane con Beccaccia (Il cane di Orazio hall), 88 cm wide, 36 cm deep, 42 height [dog with woodcock / the dog of Orazio hall], inscribed, Bartolini Diedeabbozzato, a Sno Kleiber Nel 1825, Termino in Segno Di Riconoscenza, all Amico Orazio Cotanza hall Li 1840, Translates: 'Bartolini gave sketch, a sno Kleieber in 1825, completed as a sign of recognition, a friend of Orazio and Costanza hall, 1840'. Provenance: Reputedly purchased from Heim gallery, London, 1969 according to estates original provenance notes, Literature, for discussion of the grave designed and executed by Lorenzo Bartolini for Sebastiano Kleiber, please see: Acordon, Angela. Other Notes: Lorenzo Bartolini has a well documented connection to Sebastiano Kleiber and his heirs/friends Alfred and Orazio hall, the shared tomb of whom Bartolini designed and completed. Sebastiano Kleiber was a powerful merchant in Tuscany during this period, who passed in 1836, the inscription noting a recognition of his patronage, potentially commissioned by the inheritors of his copper mine.
