Description:
A Chinese Ding ware Meiping vase by Chen Wenzeng (1954-2016), early 1980, finely potted, exterior freely carved with lotus, covered in an even ivory white glaze, base inscribed Chen Wenzeng, Ren Xu, this present Meiping was commissioned by the Chinese University of Hong Kong Art Museum in late 1970s from the Quyang Research Institute. The vase is an example of the co-operative efforts of archeological research institutes in China after the Culture Revolution to copy or reproduce wares of the past, the beginnings of the huge ceramics reproduction industry, 28 cm high.
