A Tibetan Buddhist thick wool rug, the square with small and large key fret pattern, 19th/20th century, made from the highland sheep for Monastic use as a sitting carpet, a swastika symbol in the centre within a circular medallion. Provenance: Purchased from Teresa Coleman Tibetan gallery, HK, original receipt, note: Swastika is an ancient Buddhist symbol, meaning eternal happiness. In Buddhism and Hinduism, the swastika symbol is seen as a sign of the law. In Sanskrit, the word 'Swasti' means 'Well being'., 74 x 68 cm
