An Australian carved blackwood box signed John K. Blogg, 1917, the rounded rectangular cover finely relief carved with a leafing Eucalyptus branch and gum nuts and bearing the inscription 'Hic Olim Meminisse Juvabit, Virgil', the sides decorated with recessed carved cartouches, the front inscribed 'My Dugout', incised signature and date, 35.5 x 11.5 x 27.5 cm. Provenance: The present owner's husband was a life long friend and served with John Blogg at the RAAF Air base, point Cook, bomber command
