A large Japanese lacquered wood document box, Meiji period, 19th century, the cover decorated in the form of a samurai helmet, in black, brown, red, green and gold lacquer and silver on zelcova (keyaki) wood, the underside of the cover with a fly wisk in gold and black lacquer with silver on a sprinkled brown lacquer ground, seal mark of 'Ritsuo' inside the cover., 9.4 cm high, 29 cm wide, 36.5 cm deep, fitted wooden box.
