An antique Russian 'Resurrection/Descent into Hell' icon with twelve Festival scenes. In tempera colours upon a prepared timber panel, the central image depicting Christ within a mandorla and another with Christ holding a pennant, surrounded by twelve auspicious festival scenes pertaining to the life of Christ and the Virgin, Cyrillic inscriptions in church Slavonic to the margins.
