Dally Messenger's 1910 Honour Cap: A tri-coloured Australasian Rugby League cap, in blue, black and maroon, with metal embroidery on front 'Australasia Rfl/(Kangaroo and Silver Fern)/1910', and tassle on top. In very good condition, with slight deterioration to two cloth sections to reverse, with fine internal lining with initals 'H.H.' small label marked '7'. Herbert Henry 'Dally' Messenger first played rugby union for Australia in 1907; played for the All- Blacks in their English tour; changed codes and played for the Kangaroos in their 1908 English tour. A captain of Eastern Suburbs, he was captain of the combined Australasian team - against the inaugural League tour of Australia by Great Britain. An icon of both codes, this cap was first sold at Wemyss Auctions, Sydney March 1999, as Lot 26 (Tommy Radonikas collection). Unique
