A good and rare carved 'cuckoo and quail' quarter chiming cuckoo clock, circa 1880 the 14 cm dial flanked by two trees issuing oak leaves on a foliate carved base, a hunting trophy appearing from the undergrowth, with two doors above, again carved with oak leaves, opening to reveal to the left, a quail and to the right, a cuckoo, each bird painted in naturalistic hues and mounted on a wooden base, the triple gut fusee movement with brass fusees and barrels with brass clicks held within three wooden plates, approximately 66 cm high
