A European bronze Astrolabe, after Lincoln Rex Mathias, a bronze astrolabe with an elaborate openwork rete engraved with various constellations, alidade and a bird shaped wedge for securing the pin, five plates engraved with Roman numerals and astrological symbols, surmounted by foliate engraved throne with suspension loop, signed Lincoln Rex Mathias 1611 AD to alidade, 17 cm diameter. Provenance: acquired by the owner's maternal great grandfather, and hence by descent inherited by the current owner
